What they won't mention

Republicans are taking the podium at their convention today, and millions of people will start paying attention to this race for the first time.

The message they'll hear will mirror the distortions Governor Romney has based his entire campaign on -- amplified 10,000 times.

They're going to talk about the economy, but they won't mention that their $X trillion plan gives big tax breaks to people who don't need them. They won't mention their plan to turn Medicare into a voucher system that could cost seniors up to $X more per year. They'll talk a lot about strengthening the middle class, when their plan is to do the opposite: repeal Obamacare, cut Pell Grant scholarships and Head Start funding, and raise taxes on the average family.

Donate $X or more today and make sure we have the resources we need to fight back:

There are very real and important differences between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, and we're going to keep pointing them out. But we've been outraised three months in a row, and now we're getting outspent on the air by as much as three to one in some battleground states.

The other side is banking on their TV ads to be louder than any organizer we've got on the phones and on folks' doorsteps.

That's what we're fighting this week.

We need to be ready. Make a donation of $X or more today:

This week is going to remind us all that we're on the team that fights for everyone, not just those at the top. We're the campaign that's having an honest debate about the issues that matter to American families.

Thanks.

Pay close attention

The New York Times called it "mean-spirited," "aggressive," and "intolerant."

They're referring to the Republican Party platform. And surprise, surprise: The Los Angeles Times reported that it was "written at the direction of Romney's campaign."

On national television this week, we'll be hearing a different story, as the Republicans try to convince voters that the Romney-Ryan ticket is on the side of the middle class.

It's on us to make sure the millions of Americans who are just tuning into this election for the first time don't buy it.

Help fight back against the distortions and straight-up lies coming out of Tampa by donating $X or more right now:

Here's just a snapshot of what Mitt Romney's platform calls for:

-- Turn Medicare into a voucher program to buy private insurance, forcing seniors to pay more out of pocket for their health care costs. -- Outlaw all abortions without exception for rape or incest including a "salute" to states like Virginia that have passed extreme ultrasound laws . -- Ban marriage equality and reject civil unions of all kinds. -- Won't protect the mortgage interest deduction for middle-class families if Romney enacts his tax plan, even though it helps more than 30 million middle-class families. -- Kill investments in clean energy jobs and reject the wind production tax credit, which would cost up to 37,000 American jobs.

"Intolerant" and "mean-spirited" sounds about right to me.

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are in lockstep with this platform, but pay close attention to what they're saying up on that stage this week -- I guarantee you won't hear a whole lot about any of that.

Instead, they're filling their free airtime with false promises and baseless attacks on President Obama. We can't let them get away with it.

Fight back:

Thanks, and buckle up.

As a prosecutor, I argued hundreds of rape cases—held survivors' hands, cried with them, and fought tooth and nail for justice.

So when my opponent, Todd Akin, said that survivors of “legitimate” rape can't get pregnant because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” it made me sick to my stomach.

While Akin's financiers publicly condemn him, the national Republican Party and Karl Rove still have $X.8 million in ad time reserved to support him. And, polls show that Akin still has a real chance of becoming a U.S. Senator—the race is a dead heat.

We need to seize this opportunity to reveal the GOP's true plans for rape and choice. If we don't do everything possible to defeat Todd Akin and the radical Republican agenda, we will deeply regret it. Click here to donate $X and make sure Todd Akin's revolting agenda never gets to the Senate.

Paul Ryan called Akin a “great asset” while the two fought to bar pregnant rape survivors from the right to choose, and now Romney's campaign refuses to talk about abortion in news interviews. But just because the extreme voting record of Romney's running mate creates a political liability doesn't mean Romney can ignore the rights of half of our nation.

This isn't about politics. This is about real rape survivors who would lose the right to choose if Republicans take over government and implement their agenda.

We need to do everything we can, right now, to make sure Akin doesn't become a U.S. Senator. Please make a contribution to defeat his radical agenda: [url]

Cabinet

The Republican convention is underway, and here's a quick summary of the speakers: Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Rick Santorum, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio.

Now, read that again and imagine it's a list of President Romney and his cabinet.

Romney and Ryan are leading by two in Ohio, three in Virginia, one in Wisconsin and one in Florida. No matter how you spin it, that's enough to win the White House and Senate.

Please don't wait another second. The FEC deadline is 72 hours away and if we don't raise enough, they will defeat President Obama and take the Senate. We're still $X short of our goal.

Can you please give $X? [url]

Who's up, who's down

The Republicans are gathering in Tampa -- and we're nearing one of the most important deadlines in this campaign.

There'll be a lot of chatter this week -- a lot of press, a lot of speculation, and a lot of who's-up-who's-down poll-watching. For many people, this election is going to get real very quickly. And I promise you that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan's backers will be doing some serious spending to take advantage of the spotlight.

Here's my advice:

Keep your eye on the ball.

From an America that respects women, to a health care system that doesn't discriminate against those who need it the most, to an administration that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the middle class, there's a heck of a lot on the line.

If you can, please donate $X or more before our big deadline on Friday to help support the final phase of Barack's and my campaign -- and help Democrats up and down the ticket win.

When Barack talks about winning this election, he's not just talking about beating the other guys. He's in it for our kids and grandkids.

So while the Republicans gather to finalize their ticket this week, and while Mitt Romney practices his acceptance speech, let's stick together and go win this thing.

When Romney chose Ryan...

--

When Romney chose Ryan, he made this race about their joint goal of ending Medicare.

This week all eyes are on Republicans during their national convention. They want to run from their records and the Romney-Ryan plan that dismantles Medicare to give tax breaks to millionaires instead.

But this is our chance to deliver a powerful message.

We know the truth about GOP priorities. To protect Medicare, Democrats need to take the fight to congressional districts nationwide -- that's exactly what House Majority PAC is doing. But they can't do it without your help.

Contribute $X or more today to deliver a powerful message to the GOP during their convention: we'll stand up against your misguided priorities -- and we'll expose the truth about your records.

Getting our message out about the GOP's real record will be critical to our success electing President Obama and giving him strong partners in Congress.

Thank you for standing with us.

Nancy

ugh!

--

Did those speeches tonight make you want to throw your remote at the TV?

These Republicans think they can distract voters from their extreme agenda by lying about President Obama's record. Well, guess what? They could be right.

If Romney, Ryan and the Republicans can erase their radical record and attack President Obama with enough secret Super PAC-funded smears, then they will win in 2012.

They made their case. Now, it's time for us to make ours.

Contribute $X right now to support President Obama's agenda and make sure no one forgets what radical Republicans have in store for America

There's no more time to sit around and wait. Undecided voters are tuning in, and we're getting outspent on TV in virtually every battleground state.

Let's win this thing:
