I am truly honored, as a Democrat and as a mayor, to deliver the Democratic National Convention's keynote address on Tuesday evening. I'll be the first Latino to do so.

As excited as I am, I know this isn't about me. This convention is about all of us, and how together we built a country that has made stories like my family's possible -- where the grandson of immigrants can have the opportunity to serve his community as mayor, and take the national stage.

America did not become the land of opportunity by accident. Generations before us made it possible by investing in this country -- and President Obama is helping to build the future we want for our kids and our grandkids. The convention is an opportunity to make our case for four more years of progress.

We need your help to make that case to the Latino community. At this critical time, the President is counting on all of us to step up -- sign up to volunteer today.

America's greatness was built by ordinary people investing in the things that mattered, from roads and bridges to education and Social Security. President Obama has continued that tradition, expanding opportunity to millions of Americans, including the Latino community.

From offering a degree of relief and hope to talented, driven, patriotic young people, to passing landmark health care reform, to cutting taxes for the middle class, President Obama has been a great friend to the Latino community. He understands that America is strongest when we level the playing field and create opportunities for everyone.

The progress has been great -- but there is so much left to do. Sign up to volunteer today, and let's get to it:
