Notes: Data are for the calendar year. In 2010 and 2011, enforcement actions were defined as "Show Cause" actions, which entail a violation of the state oil and gas rules that result in legal action. According to the state, about 90 percent of the board's total budget is directed to enforcement. Budget numbers come from Transparency.Mississippi.gov and are the amounts that were appropriated, not spent. The numbers of total wells in 2010 and 2011 come from the state's Oil and Gas Board website and include producing oil and gas wells.
