Notes: Data are for the calendar year. Ohio is in the process of expanding its enforcement staff. By early 2013, they expect to have filled up to 90 field inspection positions. The oil and gas division no longer receives general revenue funding and is currently financed by revenues generated from severance tax on oil and gas and other fees. For 2009 through 2011, total well counts come from the Summary of Ohio Oil and Gas Activities from the Division of Mineral Resources Management.
