Notes: Data are for the calendar year. Enforcement actions come from the Department of Environmental Protection oil and gas violation database. The numbers for enforcement staff include three supervisors. There are eight vacancies -- six inspectors and two oil and gas inspector specialists -- that the state hopes to fill soon. Total wells for 2011 are based on production reports from the department and may not be exact. The count includes all wells that produced in that year. The 2010 figure was provided by the state.
