The project site is a Beneficial Use dredged material placement area located in lower Galveston Bay, east of the Houston Ship Channel (HSC). The Bolivar Marsh is located along the northwest shoreline of Bolivar Peninsula near Port Bolivar, Texas. The project substrate consists of recent deposits oof dredged material from the HSC, and can be characterized as semi-consolidated, or unconsolidated sand,silt, and clay. The project entails planting 3 BU Cells and a 200-acre marsh with S. alterniflora within the intertidal zone. Target elevation for planting is approx 1.9 ft MLT for the upper row and 1.0 ft MLT for the lower row. All plant material will be obtained from an approved commercial source, or harvested from the existing Demonstration Marsh at Atkinson Island in Galveston Bay.... Show more
