SEE MORE ABOUT RICHARD HUDSON

Represents North Carolina's 9th Congressional District. He is serving his sixth term in the House.

The Questions

  1. Are hate crimes a problem in your state?
  2. Should Congress do something about hate crimes and white supremacist violence in your state? If so, what specifically?

The Response

Rep. Hudson’s spokeswoman: "As a member of the Helsinki Commission, Rep. Hudson has taken a leadership role in efforts to combat hate crimes, white nationalism, anti-Semitism, racism, and radical ideology. At the OSCE PA Winter Meeting earlier this year, Congressman Hudson addressed the Joint Session of the three General Committees and spoke on anti-Semitism and the inclusion of civil society. Recently, he joined the Commission for an important hearing to examine the role religious actors and interfaith institutions play in developing strategies to prevent and respond to hate crimes and violence in our communities. In addition, he has supported legislation to condemn white nationalism and white supremacy (H.Res. 41), as well as legislation to condemn anti-Semitism (H.Res. 183 and H.Res. 246). He is also a cosponsor of H.R. 336 which would take steps to reject the anti-Semitic BDS movement."
