As per deed dated 2 December 1918 and Declarations of Taking dated 16 July 1941 and 24 June 1942, the Government did obtain 426.774 acres fee.As per Secretarial Transfer dated 1 June 1946, the Secretary or the Navy conveyed 426.774 acres fee to the United States Coast Guard. Since 1946, approximately 101.814 acres has been lost to erosion because of storms and other forces of nature. Based on the 1995 FDE, the Coast Guard is still the owner of record of the site.
