The property was used as a firing range for rail mounted artillery, as a military truck driving school, and for amphibious equipment off-loading from the James River. Structures at the former Camp Wallace site consisted of 30 barracks, six storehouses, and eight mess halls, all with sewage, electric, and water systems.
