1 Contractor: Khan Mohammad Description: Road Improvement Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Khosarabd Rte Coors from PQ 26014 77523 to PQ 26411 76914 Justification: Severe potholes and ruts in the road made it impassable to vehicular traffic aside from motorcycles. The improvement of this stretch of raod has made it possible for cars, trucks, and tractors to utilize this route as an alternative to the heavily trafficked Rte Shiner. 2 Contractor: Aman Dullah Description: Vehicle Bridge Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Rte Shiner between Karabah and Khosarabad PQ 276 799 Justification: This bridge connects the two villages of Khosarabad and Karabah at a critical junction across Rte Shiner, the road which runs from Nawa to Lashkar Gah. Prior to this bridge being built, the closest place for vehicles to cross Rte Shiner was between two to three kilometers in either direction. 3 Contractor: Jalat Khan Description: Vehicle Bridge Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Khalaj PQ 2305 7361 Justification: This bridge in Khalaj village allows the farmers in the southern and central part of the village access to Rte Mateo via tractor, or car, allowing them increased mobility in getting their products and crops to the market/bazaar. This project was a priority, agreed upon by consensus, of the District Community Council. 4 Contractor: Mohammad Khasim Description: Vehicle Bridge Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Khalaj PQ 236 716 Justification: This bridge across Rte Keystone allows vehicles to cross the canal at a point 2 kilometers south or north of the two closest crossing points, thereby allowing farmers in the area to cross the canal with tractors or tucks without driving 2000 meters from where they work. This project was identified by consensus as a priority of the District Community Council. 5 Contractor: Abdul Bari Description: Vehicle Bridge Date Paid: 23Jul2010 Location: Rte Mateo Khalaj-Fakhiraann PQ 233 732 Justification: This bridge lies on a critical road for the villagers and farmers of Khalaj and Fakhiran to get their products and crops to the Nawa Bazzar as well as Lashkar Gah. Prior to its construction, the road crossing this point was treacherous for vehicles laden with cargo/products to travel across. 6 Contractor: Haji Allah Yar Description: Culvert Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Fakhiran PQ 215 740 Justification: This irrigation culvert was constructed in order to mitigate the effects of Rte Mateo's construction which interferes with the land owners' ability to water their fields as had been done previously before the road's construction. 7 Contractor: Shah Wali Description: Tractor Bridges Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Tabeen/Karabeh PQ 263 749 and PQ 268 752 Justification: These two bridges allow the farmers of Tabeen and Karabah to transport their goods/crops to the Nawa District Center Bazaar by cutting out an extra 3 kilometers they previously had to travel out of their way to cross the canals. The existing bridges were constructed of dirt and were treacherous for more than a motorcycle to cross over. 8 Contractor: Mahmed Daoud Description: Soccer Field/Youth Recreation Field Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Fakhiran PQ 220 715 Justification: This field will provide the Nawa District Youth Organization a place to provide an activity for the local children which will build cohesion among the youngest generation in a peaceful outlet, teaching values of unity and hard work. 9 Contractor: Abdul Gafar Description: Well Repair Date Paid: 01Jul2010 Location: Fakhiran PQ 21110 74487 Justification: The existing well at this location had numerous leaks and no longer provided a viable source of clean drinking water for this area of Fakhiran. 10 Contractor: Bajid Rasud Description: Mosque Date Paid: 03Jul2010 Location: MulsaZay PQ 230 710 Justification: This mosque was constructed in the town of MulsaZay in order to allow an increase in security and peace of mind for its members, who previously were intimidated by the local insurgents at other mosques. 11 Contractor: Mir Ajhan Description: Vehicle Bridge Date Paid: 05Jul2010 Location: Atsakzai PQ 269 742 Justification: This bridge across the canal on Rte King Cobra connects the villages of Atsakzai and Tabeen, allowing motorists to travel between the two without going all the way to the Helmand River to the East or Rte Shiner to the West (3 kilometers round-trip in either direction) just to cross over the canal. 12 Contractor: Mohammad Ishmael Description: Wells Date Paid: 06Jul2010 Location: Tabeen PQ 272 742 and 275 752 Justification: These two wells supply the village of Tabeen with its critical need for clean and sanitary drinking water. 13 Contractor: Jo-Jo Description: Culvert and Shallow Canal Date Paid: 23Jul2010 Location: Khalaj PQ 239 722 Justification: This irrigation culvert and shallow canal was dug/constructed to allow water from the Mateo Canal to feed into both sides of Rte Mateo, providing the farmers in the area the means to evenly distribute what had previously been stagnant water, blocked by the road. 14 Contractor: Shah Wali Description: Road Signs Date Paid: 10Jul2010 Location: Fakhiran PQ 221 733 Description: These signs are to notify tarvellers of the existance of a graveyard in the area. Previously, motorists had travelled through the area unaware of the importance and sensitivity to the site, causing discontent and instability among the locals. 15 Contractor: Abdul Rashid Description: Vehicle/Tractor Bridge Date Paid: 06Jul2010 Location: Khalaj PQ 240 720 Justification: This bridge allows the farmers in the area the freedom of movement to reach the main roads which lead to the bazaar, allowing them to get their goods to the market with the same vehicles which they already use to transport their crops to the roads
