Project Description
Grade, pave with sphalt, and install culverts on 22.2 km of road through Bak and Jaji Maidan Districts to BCP 9. Other improvements as needed.
Project Goals
Reason for Project: This road connects the remote Bak and Jaji Maidan districts with the center of trade and commerce in Khost City, increases capacity of government allowing provincial and district government officials ease of travel to and from the provincial capitol. This is a heavily traveled road linking more than 200,000 residents in the outlying districts with Khost City and the KG Road. It will also increase import/export trade traffic with Northwestern Pakistan. All portions of the BCP 9 road are on the governor's top 20 list. Desired Project Effects: Demonstrates IRoA commitment to residents in remote districts. Supports Afghanistan Compact, I-ANDS, Khost PDP, and Khost Director of Public Works' goals for road reconstruction. Measurable Effects: Increased flow of people and commerce, more effective governance, better access to districts. Increased support for provincial and district governments.
