The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Disclosed Conflict of Interest with

TF Health Corporation

Disclosed Value
Listed Reason
Equity Interest - Non-publicly traded entity ( e.g., stock, stock option, or other ownership interest)

The funded research will develop a device to monitor cardiac output and stroke volume. To do this a sensor array will be created to detect carbon dioxide, heart rate, and saturated blood oxygen. The goal of TF Health is to commercialize a metabolism tracker that determines one’s energy expenditure. The basic principle is based on the so-called indirect calorimetry, which determines heat generation of a human by analyzing his/her consumed oxygen and produced carbon dioxide. The technology detects the changes in the oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations in human breath with two sensing materials, one changes pH upon exposure to carbon dioxide, and the second one becomes oxidized upon interaction with oxygen. TF Health will be used as a consultant on the project.

Listed Research Project
Non-Invasive mobile device for tracking cardiovascular functions

This project will create the first non-invasive mobile device that can accurately measure cardiac output and stroke volume with the aim of profoundly impact the personal and home-based management of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension and heart failure.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
