This research is categorized as a no greater than minimal risk study. Patient data is being collected from vital signs monitoring devices and is being sent to a local server. The committee determined the SFI could be affected by the research because the device could be approved by FDA, and this would result in an increase in the value of the SFI with the Company. The committee further determined the SFI is a FCOI because the SFI could directly and significantly affect the design, conduct, and reporting of the funded research.
Real Time Predictive Analytics of Hemodynamic Clinical Deterioration during the Preterm Transition to Extra Uterine Life
The costs of premature births in the US are astounding as they exceed $26 billion per year, with the costliest infants being those who are born at extremely low birth weights. These infants, in particular, face severe disabilities if they survive their iniial hospitalization. This study aims to create new monitoring parameters that can alert treating doctors to the increased likelihood of developing common, costly, debilitating outcomes experienced by extremely premature infants to ultimately improve the quality of life in surviving extremely low birth weight infants.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
