iNeuro Therapeutics is a private company focused on developing a cell based assay designed to screen for compounds that increase Presenilin/gamma-secretase activity. The research is related to the function of Presenilin in Alzheimer’s disease. If Presenilin is determined to be key to mechanisms which created AD, this could increase demand for the company’s Presenilin screening assay.
Development of novel therapies for FAD
Project Narrative Mutations in the Presenilin (PSEN) genes, the most common cause of familial Alzheimer?s disease (FAD), result in loss of its function and reduction of g-secretase activity. The PSEN1 E280A mutation is the most common FAD mutation and affects ~5000 individuals in an extended Columbian kindred. In this application, we propose to take the first step in a translational program to develop novel therapies for FAD.
