The grant funds research on smartphone based detection and intervention for hearing loss. Specifically, the research will evaluate a new way to diagnose and treat hearing loss using a smartphone application, hearZA, owned by hearX Group, a privately held South African start-up company. The research will focus on assessment of whether improved screening performance and treatment is possible with the smartphone application.
