Conflict of Interest
Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Juno Therapeutics
Equity Interest - Publicly traded entity (e.g., stock, stock option, or other ownership interest)
This project, which is a supplement under the institution’s cancer center support grant, will evaluate the ability of stromal modulation to enhance therapeutic targeting of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDA) with engineered T cells and will determine if depleting the PDA extracellular matrix of hyaluronan with pegylated hyaluronidase can increase the infiltration, persistence, and/or activity of engineered T cells in a mouse model of PDA. This project will involve the use of technology that has been licensed to Juno Therapeutics, of which Dr. Greenberg is a scientific founder and holds a royalty interest. In addition, Dr. Greenberg receives significant financial interests in the form of equity and cash from Juno as a result of providing consulting services. The value of Dr. Greenberg’s financial interests in Juno could be impacted depending on the outcome of this research.
Cancer Center Support Grant
There were an estimated 1.6 million new cases of cancer in the United States in 2013, and an estimated 580,000 deaths from the disease. Cancer is the second leading cause of the death in the U.S. The goal of the Fred Hutchinson/University of Washington Cancer Consortium is the elimination of cancer through more effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, deriving from fundamental insights into the biology of the disease.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.
ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
