Mechanisms regulating hemangioendothelioma: A plastic surgeon's challenge
Project Narrative Hemangiomas are the most common tumors in infants. However, most children are not treated because of the high risks associated with the most effective therapies. This proposal will establish microRNA 126 as a critical driver of hemangioma proliferation and test the effectiveness of a standardized natural berry extract to inhibit microRNA 126 biogenesis and hemangioma growth. If successful this proposal will provide a safe nutritional therapy that can be given to all children with hemangiomas.
