In vivo targeting of diabetes-relevant human cell types with rAAV vectors
Clinical implementation of several of the most promising approaches to the treatment of type 1 diabetes will require genetic modifications of specific target cells including ?-cells in human patients in vivo,. Currently the vectors/reagents to delive therapeutic DNA specifically to the target cells does not exist. The relevance of this proposal lie in the generation of safe, clinically relevant viral vectors capable of delivering genetic payloads to specific, diabetes relevant human cell types.
