Dr. Green has intellectual property related to this research program, in the form of the on-line decision aid being evaluated in this NIH study. The study is related to advanced care planning for end-of-life decisions. The over-arching goal of this research program is to develop a validated, reliable, stable decision aid to allow adults and their families to complete advanced care planning.
Preparing Family Caregivers of Very Ill Patients for End-of-Life Decision Making
If the aims of this project are achieved, we will have shown that an advance care planning intervention can decrease the considerable distress experienced by family caregivers who serve as surrogate decision-makers for their seriously-ill loved ones. Furthermore, we will have identified a practical, exportable strategy for helping millions of caregivers prepare for their roles as surrogate decision-makers.
