The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Work emerging from this study does not directly impact the mechanism of Echinocandin resistance in Candida Giabrata covered by the patent applications; however this project does address factors that contribute towards resistance. The current patents have no current value. However, successful completion of this study may lead to licensing of the patents and potential royalties; therefore a perceived conflict of interest exists.
Critical Factors Influencing Echinocandin Resistance in Candida glabrata
Invasive fungal infections are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients, and treatment options are limited. The echinocandins are an important antifungal class for primary therapy but emerging resistance threatens their effectiveness. A greater understanding of factors contributing to resistance emergence is important to develop new strategies to overcome and/or prevent drug resistance.
