Defining the Pancreatic Progenitor Mesenchymal Niche
This application seeks funding to characterize pancreatic mesenchymal 'niche' cells, whose function is to support and maintain progenitor/stem cells in embryonic and adult pancreas. The successful isolation and characterization of pancreatic niche cells will provide an initial step towards future manipulation of this population as a new strategy for treating patients with pancreatic disease, including diabetes and pancreatic cancer.
