Caliber ID

This project includes a subcontract to Caliber ID (formerly known as Lucid). Caliber ID will build a new prototype microscope which Dr. Rajadhyaksha’s clinical colleagues
(dermatologists) will test for imaging skin lesions on patients.
The work for this grant is an academic-industry partnership, Caliber Imaging and Diagnostics will develop the small clinical microscope based on the PI’s bench-top work. The PI and his dermatology collaborators at MSK will perform clinical testing and validation. Caliber ID’s business interests overlap with the focus with this research.
Sensitivity and specificity of line-scanning versus point-scanning reflectance confocal microscopy for detecting melanocytic skin lesions in vivo
Reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) is an optical imaging technology that can guide noninvasive diagnosis of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, and reduce the need for biopsy. However, the current microscopes are large, expensive and complex to use. We propose to develop smaller, simpler and lower-cost microscopes for wider adoption of this technology by dermatologists and wider acceptance by patients.
