Conflict of Interest
Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

The SFIs of the investigator are related to the funded research since the technology being used in the project has been licensed to the company with which the investigator has multiple relationships.
The Institution has determined that since the technology could be further validated as a result of the research, these financial interests could conflict with project.
Clinical Evaluation of Primary Sampling Scatter Correction for Chest Tomosynthesis
PROJECT NARRATIVE X-ray scatter is the primary source of image degradation in radiography, mammography and tomosynthesis imaging. Conventional anti-scatter grids can be utilized to reduce scatter, but at the expense of significantly increased dose to the patient. We have developed a scatter sampling technique that uses a very low dose scan to directly measure the scatter, which can then be used to correct the images. The goal of this study is to implement the scatter reduction technique in our stationary digital chest tomosynthesis system. We will evaluate the image quality as compared to conventional imaging in a radiologist reader study on patients with lung lesions.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
