Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

PROJECT NARRATIVE Tailoring cancer therapy to allow the best cure, or response, with the fewest side effects, or toxicity, from therapy is a very high priority for cancer care. While biomarkers of response exist, functional biomarkers predicting toxicity have never been identified and applied to direct treatment. We have identified a new class of differences between people that predict toxicity to cancer treatments involving the immune system, and believe that their application has the potential to radically change how we personalize this approach to cancer treatment in the near future.
