Dr. Shaw serves at the project manager/co-investigator for the trial and Professor Donald Kohn is the PI. Orchard has contracted with UCLA to license a product which is being developed under this project but Dr. Shaw is not listed as an inventor of the technology. She is consulting with Orchard in conjunction with this trial. Her work with them consists of meeting the monitors and auditors. She is also reviewing their reports and accompanying them to FDA meetings.
EFS-ADA Lentiviral Vector Transduction of Bone Marrow CD34+ Cells for ADA-SCID
This clinical trial will seek to develop better treatments for Primary Immune Deficiency (PID) disorders, using lentiviral vectors to transfer the normal gene to bone marrow stem cells. It will provide first-in-human information on the safety and effectiveness of this combined cell and gene therapy approach and would support the development of better treatments for PID and other blood cell diseases.
