Conflict of Interest

Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Professor Morrison will be responsible for experimental design with the help of Co-l Professor Timmerman and will oversee the ongoing research. Professor Morrison's laboratory will focus on activity and stability optimization of the fusion proteins as well as their characterization including their in vitro activities. The laboratory will also assume primary responsibility for the production of the necessary recombinant proteins and will assist with the animal studies. Professor Morrison and Professor Timmerman will also assume primary responsibility for manuscript preparation.

Per Professor Morrison, this basic research is not of interest to company because it deals with mouse IFN. However, the research may validate the principle: does IFN have the ability to turn on the immune system, which may be of interest to ImmunGene. The human part of the work on this grant has been completed. In this segment only mouse work will be done.

Listed Research Project
Antibody-interferon fusion proteins for treatment of B-cell malignancies

Lymphoma remains a major health problem with over 66,000 individuals in the United States succumbing each year from the disease. In this research effort we will further develop and characterize novel therapeutic proteins that show great promise for the treatment of lymphoma even in cases where the lymphoma is resistant to current therapies. Importantly the technology that we are developing is not limited to the treatment of lymphoma, but can be applied to the treatment of many different cancers including melanoma, prostate, renal cell carcinoma and multiple myeloma.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
