Injectable Skeletal Muscle Matrix in Hypercholesterolemic Mouse Model of Peripheral Artery Disease
Project Narrative In the United States, over 8 million individuals are currently afflicted with peripheral artery disease (PAD), and many of these patients suffer from other medical conditions including diabetes and high cholesterol. By studying the effects of a naturally derived, decellularized skeletal muscle extracellular matrix (ECM) in a hypercholesterolemic animal model, the PAD patient population can be more accurately represented. The proposed research project will provide useful information for assessing whether this injectable skeletal muscle ECM should be translated into PAD patients.
