Locana Bio is interested in the use of CRISPR/Cas technology to develop treatments for neurological diseases, including myotonic dystrophy. Locana Bio can be affected by the research funded by NIH because of the use of similar technology and involves myotonic dystrophy, and Locana may use the same mutant mouse lines that are being developed in the NIH funded research.

Project Narrative We seek to develop AAV-based therapeutic strategies for microsatellite expansion diseases using RNA- targeting CRISPR/Cas (Rcas9), perform in vivo safety studies and develop alternative RNA processing biomarkers reliable for measuring RCas9 treatment efficacy in myotonic dystrophy.
