Conflict of Interest

Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Stacy Lindau, the principal investigator, is the founder of NowPow, LLC, a social enterprise IT company headquartered on Chicago’s South Side. NowPow, LLC provides only the IT infrastructure that supports the technological component of the CommunityRx intervention used in this project. This IT infrastructure’s programming code is licensed from the University to NowPow, LLC.

In order to distance herself from the NowPow IT infrastructure supporting the technological component of the intervention delivered to study participants, and to ensure the integrity of the conduct and data of the research, Dr. Lindau will not deliver the intervention, or be present during or interact with the participants during intervention or qualitative interviews, which seeks to evaluate the technological components of the intervention. She has designated research team members who will conduct these portions of the research. She will participate in coding and interpretation of the data, but only as part of a duplicative independent analysis protocol whereby multiple coders/analysts will participate in the data interpretation.

CommunityRx-Dementia

PROJECT NARRATIVE The National Alzheimer?s Project Act calls for community resource linkages as a key strategy to support more than 16 million caregivers of the growing U.S. population of persons with dementia (PWD) living at home. Our objective is to evaluate the health impact and mechanisms of a low-intensity, scalable information technology- based intervention to systematically match caregivers at the point of their own primary care to nearby community resources for health-related social, caregiving and any other self-care needs. The long-term goal of this mixed methods research is to inform science, policy and practice in this emerging field and to advance NIH?s mission by generating new knowledge about resource connections that promote ADRD caregiving outcomes and supports.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
