The research company wants a group of "experts" in the field to assess their data on a new patented drug to treat fatty liver (NAFLD) from animals and clinical studies (1B/2A). No new patent is expected, just an opinion as to whether the data is promising (or not) to continue drug development to a large RCT for future FDA approval. The plan is to help with potential design strategy, approach to assessment of key endpoints (liver biopsy, imaging, and soluble biomarkers), study population, and operational aspects for NASH. Of note, these have mostly already been standardized by the FDA for 2B/3A RCTs so no information is expected to lead to a patent in the study design.
The meeting will take place on 2/28 at New York City (Newport Airport hotel).
