Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Dr. Whitcomb is the inventor of IP rights assigned to the University of Pittsburgh and licensed to Ambry Gentics. The applicability of this procedure will be evaluated in a new population under the research funded by this grant. Dr. Whitcomb also has an ownership interest in Ambry Genetics, which is a non-publicly traded entity.
NAPS2-AS: Race Dependent Risk for Pancreatitis
This genetic epidemiological study will determine whether environmental risk, such as alcohol use and smoking, for chronic pancreatitis is the same in African American patients and Caucasians, and whether the known variations in major susceptibility genes that predict increased risk for disease found in Caucasians also occur in African Americans.
