Cessation in Non-Daily Smokers: A RCT of NRT with Ecological Momentary Assessment
US smoking patterns are changing as more and more adult smokers report that they don't smoke every day. Contrary to popular belief, these 'non-daily' smokers actually show signs of addiction to cigarettes, and have trouble quitting. In this study we will test whether nicotine gum is helpful for non-daily smokers who are trying to quit. The research subjects will carry smartphones that ask them about things like mood, stress, craving, withdrawal symptoms (irritability), etc., so that we can learn more about their 'real world' experience before and after quitting smoking. .
