Atlas Regeneration Technologies, LLC
Atlas Regeneration Technologies, LLC (Atlas) is a small business that won a Small-business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) grant from the National Science Foundation. Atlas awarded UTEP a sub-contract to collaborate in the research. W. Shane Walker is serving as the PI of the UTEP sub-contract by advising a PhD student (Mackayla Thyfault) and an undergraduate research assistant to complete the goals of developing an online hardness sensor for ion exchange softeners.
W. Shane Walker received one month of summer salary during the 2017 summer, funded from the Atlas project. OR20160422 / 226351458A UTEP received grant funding from Atlas Regeneration Technologies, and the grant funding was used to pay one month of summer salary ($) for W. Shane Walker. Malynda Cappelle is a co-owner and chief officer of Atlas Regeneration Technologies, LLC, which funded the grant for which W. Shane Walker is serving as the UTEP PI. Malynda Cappelle is also a PhD student in the UTEP Department of Civil Engineering, and W. Shane Walker is serving as her dissertation advisor. However, the subject of this Atlas research project is not included in Malynda's dissertation.
