University of Texas Northeast

Listed Reason

Contract as Course Director for UT Northeast's PALS program. It is a 3 day event (1 day renewal course followed by 2 day new provider course) that occurs 5 times per year (twice during Spring, twice during summer and once during fall). Course is held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I am responsible for providing the large group lectures, scheduling instructors to cover the small group sessions, ensure course stays on schedule and follows American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines, ensure quality of course, verify instructors have met minimum requirements to renew their instructor status every 2 years and check them off on their skills for renewal purposes. I also teach breakout sessions when an instructor scheduled calls in sick. Although dates scheduled are dependent on room availability, I do have some flexibility in scheduling to make sure there are no conflicts with UT obligations. I will still meet UT work hour needs those weeks by working extra hours earlier in week.

Additional Comments

Note: of the 130 hours per year, realize that for 2017 I did not teach for UT Tyler during the Summer (app 52 of those hours occurred during the summer outside of UT Tyler work schedule). Also, of the remaining 3 courses that occur during a semester, one day of each was a Saturday outside of work schedule (app 25 hours). Leaving only app 53 hours during the year that occurs during the working semester of which I make up those hours working additional hours earlier during the week and with additional weekend hours to ensure all UTT hours are accounted for plus many extra hours I choose to put in because I want to do my best for my UTT students.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
