National Center for Research on Earthquake Engineering (NCREE)
Review characterization of the geotechnical materials (soil and rock) supporting four nuclear power plants in Taiwan. Determined if the characterization is sufficiently comprehensive or requires improvements. Outcomes will be combined with other advisory level tasks and officially filed to Taiwan’s regulatory authority, Atomic Energy Council, for their review.
This advisory committee is composed of six distinguished experts from the United States. Two of us, Norm Abrahamson and myself, are the only committee members who also are members of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering.
