Financial Disclosure

The University of Texas System provided all data on outside professional activity of faculty and staff from all campuses from 2016 to 2019. All university employees are required to disclose outside work or activities, which are reviewed for potential conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment.

University of Otago - Department of General Pracitce and Rural Health

Listed Reason

I'm a co-investigator and ARF on two grants that I applied for before taking up my role here in USA. ONe grant is on moral distress in rural nursing and the other examines prioritisation decisions in the New Zealand health system.

Additional Comments

During my appointment, but not during my work time. The grants were awarded before I started my position here on 20th March 2017. The time I spend on these is outside of working hours. The publications that result from them however will benefit my performance here also. These are funded grant in NZ through University of Otago funds and Lottery Health New Zealand funds. This work does not conflict with my role here in terms of the kinds of decisions I make here at work or impact on my work time. People could perceive it as a conflict of time, however I agreed with direct supervisor (Dr MIchele Carter) that I would ensure any work for this is done in time outside of my time here at UTMB and that no work here would be delayed or missed due to these commitments (that is that UTMB work always takes priority).

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
