Financial Disclosure

The University of Texas System provided all data on outside professional activity of faculty and staff from all campuses from 2016 to 2019. All university employees are required to disclose outside work or activities, which are reviewed for potential conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment.

University of Phoenix

Listed Reason

Teach online university upper division criminal justice courses.

Additional Comments

The outside work does not appear to involve a conflict of interest (e.g., he is not consulting on some contract on which the institution is bidding, not using institutional resources to advance another institution/agency, etc.) and the financial gain involved is minimal ($ per year). Mr. Magee will be teaching a single online course that runs for 5 weeks. When I conferred with him on this matter I was informed that one of the weeks is spring break. The course should take up no more than an hour a day which can easily be taken care of outside of his regular work hours at UTRGV.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.

Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.

ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
