Financial Disclosure
The University of Texas System provided all data on outside professional activity of faculty and staff from all campuses from 2016 to 2019. All university employees are required to disclose outside work or activities, which are reviewed for potential conflicts of interest and conflicts of commitment.

Haplomics
I serve as the Chief Scientific Officer. UTRGV has given me %10 work load release to serve in this capacity. I estimate that approximate 30 to 40 hours per month, virtually all outside of my normal working hours, will continue to be required if the grant application I am working on currently is ultimately funded. This is an on-going activity. No current income. I have a small ownership interest which hopefully will grow in value. In addition, I may receive royalty payments for intellectual property developed when I was at my previous institutions. I listed 1% ownership in stock but I am not sure of the exact amount or type of equity. I am an officer of the small business (start-up) and I am an employee at the UTRGV. There may be conflicts between these roles. Haplomics is working with the UTRGV Technology Transfer Office on a joint provisional patent application that we recently filed. We filed a large NIH RO1 grant application that would be awarded to the UTRGV for the basic supporting aspects of this technology and we are working on preparing an NIH Phase 1 STTR application which would be administered by Haplomics with a UTRGV subcontract for the translational development of this technology. I am spending 30 to 40 hours per month, outside of my normal service hours, on this activity. This outside activity is advancing my academic research, but it may appear that this could conflict with my non-research UTRGV duties.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.
ProPublica obtained additional financial disclosures and conflict of interest forms that we have not yet digitized and added to the database. You can download those disclosures in the ProPublica Data Store.
