Conflict of Interest
Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

DNAtrix, Inc.
Intellectual property rights (e.g., royalties, patents, copyrights) not from the awardee Institution
Project #1 of the above-referenced SPORE Grant uses intellectual property licensed to DNAtrix, which was co-invented by Dr. Fueyo-Margareto. Dr. Fueyo-Margareto holds an ownership stake in this privately-held entity. Although Dr. Fueyo-Margareto has not yet received any royalties or financial compensation from DNAtrix or related to the license agreement, because Dr. Fueyo-Margareto holds ownership in DNAtrix, Inc. and financial consideration (e.g., royalties) may soon be forthcoming, the Conflict of Interest Committee determined on March 15, 2013 that Dr. Fueyo-Margareto has an FCOI with Project #1 of the SPORE grant. As the designated institutional official ultimately responsible for determining an FCOI, I concur with their finding.
Dr. Fueyo-Margareto has had a Conflict Management Plan to address any potential conflicts related to the licensing of this intellectual property since 2006, and his Plan has now been amended in order to address the recent determination of a FCOI with the above-referenced research.
SPORE in Brain Cancer
Over the past 20 years, advances in the treatment of glioblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor, have been only incremental. If successful, the research proposed in this Brain Cancer SPORE grant will legitimize novel, mechanistically unique therapeutic approaches and validate prognostic and predictive biomarkers, and thereby change the standards of care of patients with brain tumors.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
Fewer than 10% of records from the University of Florida and fewer than 1% of records from the University of Texas system were removed because they did not contain enough information.
