Conflict of Interest
Institutions must file significant disclosures to the National Institutes of Health if they determine financial relationships could affect the design, conduct or reporting of the NIH-funded research. The NIH provided us with their entire financial conflict of interest database, with filings from 2012 through 2019.

Investment vehicles, such as mutual funds and retirement accounts, controlled by the Investigator
An outside activity has a nexus with an individual's research activities if the outside activity arises from, relies upon or is related to the academic expertise that qualifies that individual to participate in federally funded research or human subjects research. The Institution has reasonably determined that the significant financial interest could directly and significantly affect the design, conduct, or reporting of the PHS-funded research and so requires management.
Optimizing HIV care for patients with substance use disorders using predictive analytics in a mobile health application
PROJECT NARRATIVE / PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE Whereas the goal of HIV care is life-long viral suppression with uninterrupted antiretroviral therapy, people living with HIV and substance use disorders frequently discontinue treatment and experience viral rebound. Moments when people are at high risk for these lapses in HIV care may be predictable and ultimately preventable if care providers had access to the relevant information at the right time. This project will test the effectiveness of smartphone-based mobile health (mHealth) system that collects information from patients about drug use, negative mood states, and other factors that can be used to prevent HIV treatment failure.

Notes: When a more specific filing date is not available for an individual financial disclosure or conflict of interest form, we use the year the form was filed. If the year was not disclosed, we report the range of years covered by our public records requests. In a few cases, a start date was provided instead of a filing date. In those cases, we use the start date instead.
