Organizing for Action
It feels good to be on the right side of history.
The Senate just passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA, a bill that ensures that no one can be legally discriminated against in the workplace just because of who you are or who you love.
That's a reason to celebrate. But we're not there yet. There's still a long fight ahead to pass ENDA in the House. We need help from anyone who believes that equality is worth fighting for to stand up and say it -- add your name today.
2013 has been an amazing year for equality -- we've seen huge victories -- at the Supreme Court and in states like Minnesota, New Jersey, and Rhode Island, which all made marriage equality the law of the land. Just this week, we added Illinois to that list.
There's no better time to stand by the belief that love is love. We are who we are.
It's absurd that, in 29 states, there's still no state-specific law protecting LGBT individuals from employment discrimination -- and in four more, no workplace protections for transgender Americans.
This Senate bill passed with a bipartisan supermajority -- 64 votes to say that ENDA should be the law. It's only a matter of time before it is. Let's do our part to make sure it's sooner rather than later.
