Standing with President Obama

Here's something I care deeply about: our kids and grandkids growing up with real, natural places to explore, not just photos of what used to be.

That's why I'm standing with President Obama. I know he wants the same for his girls, and it shows in the progress he's made to protect the environment and combat climate change.

He set historic fuel economy standards to nearly double the miles our vehicles get on a tank of gas by 2025. He proposed the first-ever carbon pollution standards for new fossil-fuel-powered plants, and under his administration, we've more than doubled the amount of electricity we generate from wind and solar energy.

I've been fighting for the environment for nearly 40 years, and I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to turn back now.

Watch this video about President Obama's accomplishments for the environment, then sign up to volunteer today so we can have four more years of progress:

The President said it best himself: "There will always be people in this country who say we've got to choose between clean air and clean water and a growing economy ... that is a false choice."

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are two of those people. Both want to gut investments in clean energy -- including the Wind Production Tax Credit, at the cost of 37,000 American jobs -- while at the same time keeping big oil's $X billion tax loopholes intact. I guess that's not so surprising, considering those same special interests have donated nearly $X million to Romney's campaign and the super PACs behind it.

We can't let those guys buy the keys to the White House.

For me, it's personal. Preserving this great land of ours has always been near and dear to my heart, and I have a hunch you feel the same way. You know what's at stake. So I hope you'll join me and do whatever it takes to support the only candidate in this race who's dedicated to that great American tradition:
