Patient Pathways Through This ER

After a patient arrives at the emergency room, they are typically seen by a doctor and then either sent home or admitted to the hospital and taken to a room. A small percentage of patients leave without being seen at all. The chart below shows on average how long each of these pathways take. Lower numbers are better, and all times refer to the average length of time people waited. Find out more »

Detailed Quality Measures

Here is a more in depth look at each quality measure, compared to state and national averages for hospitals with low volumes. Experts caution that very small differences between hospitals for a given measure are unlikely to correspond to noticeable differences in the real world.

Notes: "Average time" refers to the median waiting time (the midpoint of all patients' waiting times). References to "doctor" indicate a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. CMS reports the CT scan quality measure as the percentage of patients who received a scan within 45 minutes. We have reversed that measure so that all measures follow a "lower is better" pattern.

We were visiting family in Marion, AL when my 4 year old fell and broke his arm. We took him to BMC E.R. because it was the closest...and I'm so glad it was! This was by far the best E.R. experience I've ever had. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff that treated my baby. I would recommend this E.R. to anyone. I honestly wish we lived closer so we could use it any time an emergency arises. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

I came into the ED with chest pain and shortness of breath. with in minutes I had been evaluated by a very competent caring physician and nursing staff. They immediately began aggressive care. The doctor recommended that I be admitted for additional labs and observation. She gave me the choice to be transferred to DCH where my cardiologist is or to stay at Bibb Medical. I chose to stay at BMC. During my overnight stay every staff member I encountered was kind, friendly and caring. I feel that I received very adequate care and would return to this hospital again.

This was my first time at the ER, and overall I was treated with respect and professional courtesy. I was very surprised because at most emergency rooms you sit in pain for hours! I would highly recommend them. Plus the ER physician, after describing my symptoms, knew exactly what treatment was needed. Very professional staff, was seen in a very short time.
