New York Times (U.S.)

Today's Status:

According to The New York Times, China blocked access to the news site as well as its Chinese language site after it published an investigative story about the wealth of then-Premier Wen Jiabao's family in October 2012. A Times spokesperson quoted at the time expressed hope that access would be restored "shortly," but the site remains unavailable from within China, as does its Chinese-language edition and The International New York Times.

Every day, ProPublica tests to see if the homepages of international news organizations are available to browsers inside China. To test, we use GreatFire.org, a censorship monitoring service inside China that launched in 2011. See test results for other sites »
