AMERICAN CROSSROADS

Considered the granddaddy of all super PACs, American Crossroads was founded in April 2010 with the help of Ed Gillespie, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, and Karl Rove, a Republican strategist who served as senior adviser to President George W. Bush. Neither work for the super PAC in any official capacity. The PAC's chairman is Mike Duncan, a former RNC chairman. Its president and CEO is Steven Law, once the general counsel to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a former deputy labor secretary under Bush. Duncan and Law run the PAC's daily activities. Together with its sister group, Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies, or Crossroads GPS, the PAC works to elect Republicans. The fundraising juggernaut has said it plans to raise $240 million for the 2012 election cycle -- twice as much as initially planned.
