Based on interview, the hospital failed to protect the right for confidential medical information of 11 of 11 sampled patients. The information was sent to the wrong e-mail recipient . Findings:On 2/10/12 at 10 a.m. during an entity reported incident investigation, the compliance and ethics officer stated she accidently e-mailed medical information intended for a hospital employee to an individual's personal e-mail address. The e-mail contained eleven patients' names, medical record numbers, and admit dates. The compliance and ethics officer further stated she attempted to recall the e-mail, but was not sure she was successful.
