Issue:
Based on interview the hospital failed to provided confidential medical treatment for one of one sampled patient (1). Findings:Patient 1 was admitted to the hospital on 12/20/11 for sepsis (illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria).During an entity reported incident investigation on 1/6/12 the ethics and compliance officer stated a hospital employee who was terminated was accidently called into work by the intensive care unit charge nurse. The ex-employee of the hospital was under the impression she was rehired per diem (as needed) basis after her termination and presented herself to work at the hospital on 12/22/11. The ethics and compliance officer further stated the ex-employee received report for Patient 1 by the night nurse. The report received by the ex-employee disclosed Patient 1's identity and clinical condition.
