Issue:

A Veteran arrived in the Lake City VAMC ER on the night of 12/28/14. The Veteran was taken to radiology for an x-ray. The Veteran noticed that the x-ray technician had her daughter with her in the patient care area. Veteran stated "...she has her daughter in here and she's not even an employee. She's talking all about my care in front of her daughter." Patient indicates he plans to speak to the Patient Advocate and his congressman as he feels "it makes me look bad in front of all the other patients". The VA Police were called to assist the patient and the evening house nursing supervisor was notified of this situation. The x-ray employee was instructed her daughter had to leave the patient care area.

Outcome:

01/12/15: The Incident Resolution Service Team has determined that Patient A will be sent a letter offering credit protection services.
