Issue:
Veteran contacted the medical center on 06/05/12 to state that he was contacted by Brand Comfort sales department on 06/04/12. Veteran stated that the sales person told him that he is currently on Viagra and that their company could provide the Veteran with a discount on this medication. Veteran only receives his medication from our medical center and he does not know how they obtained this information. He advised the Privacy Officer (PO) that his prescriptions come from the Great Lakes Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP) and he feels that they compromised and release his medical information to this company. Veteran wishes to make a formal complaint to the CMOP. The Privacy Officer contacted the Veteran on 06/06/12 and provided the address and telephone number for the Patient Customer Service department at the CMOP. Update: 06/11/12:It is not known how the Salesperson received the Veteran's contact information, however the Veteran stated that the sales person knew what type of medication he was on. The Veteran also stated that he has only received medications from the VA. The Veteran will be sent a letter of notification.
