Issue:

Wife of veteran had her brother in law stop at VA to obtain information on VIC card and benefits. Her gave her pamphlets and an envelope. When she opened the envelope she noted that it contained information on other veterans. She states it was death certificates or autopsies. She turned over envelope and noted it was a special attention envelope. She contacted VA immediately. She is mailing all items to PO's attention today.

Outcome:

Received items in today's mail. contained 8 deceased veteran's death information including full SSN, diagnosis, copy of death certificate. application for burial flag, funeral arrangements & personal effects. Spoke with VSC manager, these items were to go to scanning. Envelop of scanning in same drawer as envelopes to be given to veterans about benefits. Both are in similar manilla envelopes. VSC manager immediatly moved benefits info to another location to avoid issue again.
